We believe mental health care should be both thoughtful and transparent. Below you’ll find everything you need to understand how we approach fees—including why we charge what we do, what your payments support, and how we think about access.
Fees + Insurance
-
Our standard fee for therapy ranges from $175–$300 per session, depending on provider and format. Extended sessions or specialized formats may be longer and billed at a higher rate. Each therapist on our team sets their own rate based on experience, licensure, and focus.
We’ll always be clear about fees before we begin.
We also offer free 20-minute consult calls for new clients. These give you a chance to ask questions, share what you're looking for, and explore whether we’re a good fit.

Sustainable, high-quality therapy takes time, training, and intention – much of it happening between sessions. The cost of service supports the full ecosystem of client care, including:
Secure systems that protect your privacy and safety
Time spent preparing for sessions, writing notes, and consulting with colleagues
Ongoing clinical training and advanced certifications (e.g., DBT, EMDR, CBT, trauma treatment)
Professional liability insurance and licensing costs
A work environment that allows therapists to do this work with presence, care, and integrity – in a field where thoughtful, sustainable work environments are too often the exception
Because we operate independently, outside of insurance or institutional funding, we carry many of these costs ourselves. Our rates reflect the care and attention we bring to every aspect of the work – not just during your session, but in all that surrounds and supports it.

Yes, but in a limited and thoughtful way.
We know therapy is a big commitment – financially and emotionally – and we want to be thoughtful about how we approach both. We reserve a small number of sliding scale spots for clients with significant financial need – particularly those impacted by systemic injustice, chronic illness, disability, or lack of generational wealth. We don’t ask for proof of income. Instead, we invite thoughtful reflection about what feels sustainable. Sliding scale is one way we try to expand access – while also honoring the sustainability of our work.
Our therapists lowest sliding scale rate is usually $50-$75 below each therapist’s full fee:
When considering a reduced fee, we ask clients to reflect on:
Clients who typically pay full fee may…
Meet basic needs regularly (i.e., food, water, shelter) without much stress
Have health insurance, savings, or family support
Afford travel, dining out, or wellness expenses
Work full-time or are part-time/stay-at-home by choice
Clients who may benefit from reduced fee often…
Worry about affording food, rent, or healthcare
Have little to no savings or financial backup
Are freelance, underemployed, or in unstable work
Are navigating illness, caregiving, or systemic barriers
We invite you to reflect with care on what feels possible, and we’re here to talk it through. We revisit these agreements over time, and we’re always open to dialogue.
-
We are an out-of-network provider, meaning we don’t bill insurance directly. However, we can give you a monthly superbill to submit to your PPO plan for possible reimbursement. Be sure to check your plan for coverage details.
We’ve chosen not to contract with insurance companies because they often:
Require formal mental health diagnoses
Limit the number or type of sessions allowed
Reimburse at rates that don’t reflect the cost of care
Add administrative burdens that reduce availability and depth
Staying out-of-network allows us to prioritize flexibility, privacy, and the quality of your care.

We understand that private practice therapy is not accessible to everyone. If our rates or sliding scale options are out of reach, we encourage you to explore these excellent alternatives:
Open Path Collective
Local low-fee or nonprofit mental health centers
University training clinics (often staffed by supervised graduate students)
School counseling centers (for enrolled students)
Employer-provided EAPs or workplace mental health programs
Therapist directories that let you filter by cost and insurance (e.g., Inclusive Therapists, Latinx Therapy, Therapy for Black Girls, Psychology Today)
